01 Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Compass Marketing ("Compass," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit compassmarketing.ai (the "Site"), request a free growth plan, or otherwise communicate with us.
This policy does not cover personal information we process on behalf of our clients while delivering marketing services (for example, a client's customer lists or ad-platform data). That information is handled under our written agreement with that client and the client's own privacy policy.
The short version: we collect what you choose to send us through the contact form or email, plus basic technical data our hosting provider logs automatically. We use it to reply to you and run our business. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't run third-party advertising trackers on this Site.
02 Information we collect
Information you give us
When you fill out our "Free Growth Plan" form, email us, book a call, or otherwise reach out, we collect the information you provide, which may include:
- Contact details — your name, work email address, and phone number if you share it.
- Business details — your company name, role, website, and the goals or challenges you describe.
- Communications — the content of messages, call notes, and any files you send us.
Please don't send us sensitive personal information (such as health, financial account, or government ID details) through the Site. We don't need it to prepare a growth plan.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the servers that host our Site automatically record standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring URL, pages requested, and the date and time of your visit. This data is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
Information from other sources
We may receive business contact information about you from publicly available sources (such as your company's website or professional networking profiles), from referral partners, or from people who introduce us to you. We combine this with information you provide only to understand your business and follow up on your inquiry.
03 How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your inquiry, prepare your free growth plan, and schedule and hold calls with you.
- Evaluate, propose, and deliver our marketing services if you become a client.
- Send you information you've requested and, where permitted, occasional updates about our services. You can opt out at any time.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site, including preventing spam, fraud, and abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract; our legitimate interests in responding to business inquiries, growing our business, and securing the Site; compliance with legal obligations; and your consent, where we ask for it (you may withdraw consent at any time).
06 Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. As a general guide:
- Inquiries that don't become engagements are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, so we have context if you come back, and then deleted or anonymized.
- Client records are kept for the length of the engagement plus the period required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.
- Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see Your rights & choices.
07 Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Site, access controls, and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us right away.
08 Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your personal information.
- Port your information to another provider in a usable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling (we don't engage in these today).
To make a request, email hello@compassmarketing.ai with the subject line "Privacy Request." We'll verify your identity by matching the information you provide with what we hold, and we'll respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 30 to 45 days). You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of their authorization.
Marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email or by replying to ask us. We'll still send transactional or service-related messages if you're a client.
We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to appeal our decision by replying to our response, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority or state attorney general.
09 U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and others) have the rights described above, subject to the applicable law. In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Identifiers — such as name, email address, and IP address.
- Professional or employment-related information — such as company name and job title.
- Internet or network activity — such as browser and device information and pages viewed, from server logs.
- Inferences — such as your business's marketing needs, based on what you tell us.
We collect these categories from the sources and for the purposes described in sections 02 and 03, and disclose them for business purposes only to the categories of recipients listed in section 04. We do not sell or share (as those terms are defined under California law) personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give rise to a right to limit its use.
10 International visitors
Compass is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have data protection laws different from yours. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy framework.
11 Children's privacy
The Site is intended for businesses and professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and if the changes are material, we'll provide more prominent notice (such as a notice on the Site or an email to clients). Your continued use of the Site after an update means the updated policy applies.
